Several folks have asked me about the Oyster Obsession birthday cake and those fantastic chocolate, edible oyster shells. Yes, those beauties are candy!
First things first. We cheated. We started with a Coconut Cream Cheese Fantasy cake from Publix bakery. Easy. Pretty. Yummy.
Andie’s Specialty Sweets in Dallas makes the edible oyster shells. I first saw these on In a Half Shell’s wedding cake and knew I had to try them. Each extraordinarily realistic oyster shell is handmade and one-of-kind. Andie’s makes them with vanilla bean infused candy, and then fills them with rich dark chocolate.
Since the edible oyster shells are made to order, they can take a while to create. If you need them for a specific date, be sure contact them about scheduling.
These treats are definitely for a special occasion, but I figured what’s more special than Oyster Obsession’s first birthday!
