Pre-Shucked Oyster Recipes
Few foods are better than a cold, creamy, freshly shucked raw oyster. But when you’re cooking, consider convenient, less-expensive, pre-shucked oysters for recipes. Find pints of fresh, pre-shucked oysters at your favorite seafood shop or at the seafood counter in your supermarket. Sometimes found in jars or small plastic tubs, shucked oysters are super time-savers. And they’re perfect breaded and fried, sauteed, baked in dressings, or added to sauces, soups, and chowders.
Shucked oysters also help the environment. How? Most U.S. oyster processors recycle the shells from shucked oyster meat. This keeps the oyster shells out of landfills and gets them back into the water where baby oysters need them to grow.
Next time you visit the fish market or seafood counter, pick up some pre-shucked oysters. I challenge you to tell the difference between them and freshly shucked a soup, stew, casserole, or sauce.
